

Clio Tilton, viola & violin
Violist & Violinist Clio Tilton performs classical music, from baroque to contemporary, throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan, and she seeks to share her passion for music through outreach and teaching.
Equally at home on baroque and modern instruments, Ms. Tilton has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, Camerata de Lausanne, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, and Classical Revolution, as well as baroque ensembles including the American Bach Soloists, the Wallfisch Band, and The Albany Consort. An active chamber musician and former member of the Calla Quartet, she has been featured on the Treetops Chamber Music Society series and has worked extensively with members of the Juilliard String Quartet at the Kniesel Hall Chamber Music Festival and the Juilliard School.
A graduate of Oberlin College's double-degree program in Viola and Comparative Literature, she completed her Master's degree at The Juilliard School and then continued her studies as a Fulbright fellow in the class of Florence Malgoire at the Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva and with Gilad Karni at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Ms. Tilton is dedicated to sharing the experience of music through teaching and outreach. She has taught music in a variety of settings, including touring the Philippines with Cultures in Harmony, teaching general music in New York City public schools through the Morse Fellowship program, teaching elementary school string classes in Ohio, and combining music and literacy development through the CLIMB program. She currently teaches private and group lessons for violin and viola in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
