Matthew DePasquale, Piano

Although mainly a trumpeter by trade, Matthew DePasquale has always had a love for the piano. Showing a keen interest in the instrument at a very young age, he had his first experience with formal private lessons for one year, at the age of 8. At 13 he picked up the trumpet and from then on both instruments have played different, yet integral roles in his musical life. In 2003 he went on to receive a full academic scholarship to the John J. Cali School of Music, studying with principal trumpet of the New York City Opera, Donald Batchelder. While diligently pursuing his study of the trumpet, Mr. Depasquale also continued his journey with the piano, despite only one year of formal training, not only by placing into advanced piano and keyboard harmony courses but also by teaching himself pieces by Bach, Mozart and Chopin.

After graduating from the Cali School, Mr. DePasquale went on to obtain his Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance under the tutelage of David Burkhart and Mario Guarneri at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, also under a full academic scholarship. In addition to working with such diverse and amazing musicians as: Sir Simon Rattle, Gábor Tarkövi, Sting, Chicago, Third Eye Blind, The Fifth Dimension, to name a few, Mr. DePasquale has again turned towards the piano by composing and recording scores for several short films.

In addition to performing, he currently teaches trumpet and piano both privately, and at several music schools in the Bay Area.
